Italy, Sicily. Vintage: 2019. It's very unusual to find a white wine made appassimento. That's what makes this plush Sicilian white so exciting. It's made by letting some grapes dry out on the vine and by drying a portion of the grapes in the sun. It's best known in making decadently-rich reds like Amarone - but it's less well known that the tradition of making wines this way also has a rich Sicilian heritage.
Grillo is a wonderfully aromatic, and distinctly Italian, white grape. It's the perfect base for this style of winemaking. Honeyed, smooth and dried fruity, with low acidity it's really delicious with Moroccan-spiced dishes.
